About Us

Meet Our Owner Joe

“In Vino Veritas”

Joe Maloney is a lifelong hospitality professional, driven to provide thoughtful and uncompromising customer service experiences. Cooking since he was 15, Joe always had one goal in mind: to become an Executive Chef. He worked his way through country clubs, yacht clubs, conference centers, hotels, catering companies, and restaurants. Joe achieved his goal at age 26, delivering the highest quality food and service to his guests throughout his career.

Joe engaged in nearly 20 years of professional development classes at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), perfecting his skills in global cuisine preparation, baking, and pastry work.

It was on the first day of Wine and Food Pairing for Chefs that he had an epiphany of becoming a wine professional. He pursued his education at the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies at the CIA’s Napa Valley campus. Upon completing the requisite coursework, Joe sat for the CIA’s certification exam, becoming a Certified Wine Professional in 2011.

Three years later, Joe retired from his culinary life to begin a new career in wine and spirits retail. Through wine tastings, wine and food pairings, and product awareness, he is now sharing his love for great customer service, wine education and, yes, food with his customers. As the third owner of The Wine Shop in its 90-year history, Joe is fortunate and thankful for the shop’s strong customer base and works hard to keep their trust.
